  • $ 577.77

Description: A great looking and nicely toned extremely fine 1809 Mexican silver coin. This is the Ferdinand VII 8 Reales depicting the bust of King Ferdinand the Seventh of Spain on the obverse. The obverse of this large, silver dollar size coin, has the legend "FERDIN.VII.DEI.GRATIA" surrounding the king's bust and the date 1809 below it. The reverse depicts the crowned arms of Spain between pillars with the legend "HESPANIA.ET IND.REX" followed by the mint mark "Mo" then 8R. T.H." all surrounding the arms. These coins were used extensively in the US before the silver dollars were circulated. The coin is nicely toned and shows all the details very well. It is graded XF40 by PCGS and comes in a plastic slab so labeled. It is a truly a nice coin with great eye appeal and has nice heft to it. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.

Date: 1809.

Origin: Mexico.

Weight and Size: The coin is ~40 mm in diameter and should weigh ~27 grams of 89.6% silver.

References: KM#110.

Condition: The coin is graded by PCGS as extremely fine XF40 and comes in a plastic slab so labeled. The coin is nicely toned in gray toning with no major marks for the grade. It has well preserved details with wear commensurate with its age and circulated status. However, it is our opinion that at least the reverse is in a state that is better than the assigned grade. A great coin that is problem free, which will make a great addition to your collection. Please view photos for additional condition information.
