Description: A about uncirculated 1863 copper civil war store or business card token. The token is for Husseys Special Message Post in New York. The token is dated 1863 and has the name of the business along the edge of the obverse. The obverse also shows the address of the business as "50 WILLIAM ST. NEW YORK" in the center. The reverse (reverse die 1162) shows a galloping horse with a rider on its back with the date 1863 and the word "EXIGENCY" below it in exergue. The words "TIME IS MONEY" are written along the edge of the token above the horse. The token has a plain edge. It weighs ~3.4 gm and is ~19 mm in diameter. A great looking and very interesting copper civil war merchant or store card token to add to your collection. Condition: The token is in good about uncirculated condition. The token has minimum wear commensurate with its age and circulated state. It has even light wear and some light toning with area where copper luster is evident especially around the legends and the horse. The token is problem free and has great eye appeal. The details of the horse and the rider are very well preserved and discernable. This is a nice and well-preserved merchant civil war token from New York City to add to your collection.
