1942 East African Currency Board Twenty Shillings Banknote Pick No. 30A VF 25
Description: A nice very fine banknote from East Africa. The banknote, which was issued by the East African Currency Authority in Nairobi (the current capital of Kenya in east Africa) is dated 1st August 1942. The banknote is dark blue and black over yellow and orange background. It depicts the image of King George VI of Great Britain at left with the denomination to the right of the front. The front of the note is written in English, Arabic, and Gujarati while the back is written in English. The back is brownish-orange in color with the image of a lion in the center with Mount Kenya in the background. The front of the note has three signatures, the date, the denomination, the name of the issuing authority, and the serial number. This particular note has the serial number 50350 and is series A/20. The note has a watermark with the letters EACB in a horizontal honeycomb pattern. The note was printed by Indian Security Press. Condition: The banknote is graded Very Fine 25 by PMG and comes in a plastic holder so noted. The note is soiled with some minor staining especially on the back. The note has several vertical folds, a horizontal fold, and general wrinkling. The note has general roughness along the edges and its corners show rounding and bumps, but are intact. The note has no tears, no splits, no pinholes, and no graffiti. A rather nice example of this elusive banknote to add to your collection. Please see photo for additional condition information.
