Description: A very nice small framed Folk Art drawing in the best Pennsylvania Dutch tradition. This beautiful hand painted piece represents a typical Pennsylvania Dutch decorative drawing on paper known as Fraktur. It depicts two birds, distelfink?, perched on a tulip with additional tulips around it all emanating from a red heart. There is green leaves and a grape bunch as well as blue berries. The small decorative drawing has a legend which says "Live for today; Dream for tomorrow; learn from yesterday" in beautiful calligraphy. A great decorative folk art hand drawing on paper done in the Pennsylvania Dutch style common in Lancaster County Pennsylvania. The hand painting on paper is signed and dated by the artist along the branches in the middle of the drawing. It is framed in a beautiful sponged brown wooden frame and is covered with glass. It has a metal bracket on top of the back to hang from. This very colorful piece has green, red, yellow, brown, and black. The back has a write-up about Pennsylvania German Fraktur. The piece is framed with glass cover and is in excellent condition ready to be hung on your wall. Please carefully review the photos as they are part and parcel of our description.

Origin: Purchased at an estate sale in Central Pennsylvania.

Size: The frame measures ~6 1/2" by ~5 1/2", while the art itself measures ~4 1/2" by ~3 1/2". The piece weighs slightly over 7 ounces.

Artist: Ruthanne Hartung

Marks: Signed and dated "Ruthanne Hartung 2001" in cursive calligraphy on branches emanating from the heart. It also has a label on the back which gives the artist contact information.

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: This is a nice piece of a modern Pennsylvania Dutch art hand painted by an accomplished artist and winner of many awards. It would make a nice decorative piece or a great addition to your collection of Pennsylvania Dutch art collection.

Condition: The piece is in very good condition with no losses and the frame is also in very good condition. The drawing is well done with no damage or losses. The frame has a few minor scratches and a few minor dings to the edge, which can be seen in the photos. The backing has pencil writing but no tears. The piece is clean and ready to hang on your wall.
