Description: Antique cast iron still penny bank. It is cast in the form of a clown standing and wearing a pointy hat. The clown has a gold background color with red highlights for a cummerbund, suspenders, edge of the hat, cheeks and mouth among others. The bank is made of two halves held together with a screw. It has the coin slot on its back. It was made by AC Williams Company in 1908. See page 73, bank No. 211, of Andy and Susan Moore's book "The Penny Bank Book; Collecting Still Banks" Published by Schiffer Books, of Exton, PA in 1984 for a similar bank. We have opened the bank and found no markings on the inside, instead we found running gold and red coloring, as well as soiling on the interior of the bank. The screw also has gold coloring indicating the entire piece is authentic and all original including the screw (see the last photo).
