Beautiful Silver Coin from Mexico 1805-TH Silver 2 Reales Mo Mint Mark King Charles IV Bust

Description: A nice extremely fine 1805 silver two reales from Mexico. The coin displays the bust of King Charles IV (Carlos IIII), King of Spain wearing armor and facing right on the obverse and a crowned shield flanked by two columns on the reverse. The coin has the words "CAROLUS. IIII. DEI. GRATIA. 1805" surrounding the King's head on the obverse. The reverse is marked "HISPAN. ETIND. REX. Mo. 2R.T.H." surrounding the shield which has standing lions and towers at opposite corners. Early Mexican coins such as these are gradually getting more difficult to find. Size and Weight: Silver coin weighs ~6.7 gm of 0.896 silver and is ~26.5 mm in diameter.

Condition: I would grade this coin as choice very fine or much better (I am tempted to call it extremely fine but you be the judge) with all of its details being well preserved. The coin retains some of its original luster and has soiling/staining along the edges especially on the reverse. It has wear to the high points but still shows details of the king's hair and his armor. The reverse shows wear to some of the shield's details but in general it still retains the details in the crown and the words on the banner. The coin shows some scratches and bag marks in the fields. It has wear commensurate with its age and circulated status and has great eye appeal. The coin is much better than the photos suggest. A great coin to add to your collection.
