Rare Antique Cast Iron Still Penny Bank Graf Zeppelin Pull Toy on Wheels

  • $ 297.77

Description: This is a nice and rather scarce silver colored cast iron penny bank in the form of Graph Zeppelin. The bank is elongated in shape and has a rounded front with a cabin on the bottom and a loop to pull it from in the front. The back of the bank has four fins extending outwards. The bank has two front wheels and a wheel on the back making it a pull toy, which is very uncommon. It is made of two halves and held together with a screw. The piece has the coin slot on top near the fins on the back end. It is colored in a silver coloring and retains most of its original coloring. Please see Andy and Susan Moore's book "The Penny Bank Book: Collecting Still Banks" by Schiffer Publishing Ltd, 1984, page 129, bank #1431 for a similar example. This bank was made by A. C. Williams in 1934. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: This is a nice and in great condition example of this rare cast iron figural penny bank, which make a nice addition to your collection.

Condition: The bank is in excellent condition with no cracks, hairlines, or repairs. It has general minor loss to the paint especially along the raised ribbing on the surface, on the bottom of the cabin, and the front loop. The piece also shows signs of rust mostly on the front wheels and on various spots throughout the piece, which can be seen in the photos. The bank appears to be all original with all original paint and even the screw. It is clean inside and the piece looks great. Please view photos carefully for additional condition information and to appreciate the beauty of this rare piece.
