Three Vintage Primitive Forged Iron or Steel Tobacco Spears From Lancaster County, PA

Description: Offered here are three forged iron or steel tobacco spears. These were purchased in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania., The spears show signs of use and surface oxidation but are still solid and intact. One of the spears appears to have been sharpened and its point is rather sharp. The other two have points that are less sharp with one having a rather rounded point. All three spears are hollow and have good points, which would probably still work to spear tobacco plants. The pieces are heavy and show signs of use inside and out. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.

Date: Uncertain but most likely mid to late 1900's.

Origin: Purchased at an estate sale in Lancaster County Pennsylvania.

Size: The spear are ~6 1/4", ~6 1/8", and ~6 1/8" with the tops being ~2" by ~3/4", ~1 7/8" by ~3/4", and ~1 7/8" by ~3/4". They weigh ~4.5 ounces, 5.9 ounces, and 6.2 ounces.

Maker: Unknown.

Marks: Unmarked.

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: Just a very nice set of old forged iron primitive agricultural tools.

Condition: All three pieces are solid and in very good condition without breaks, losses or repairs. One of the spears appears to have been sharpened and its point is rather sharp. The other two have points that are less sharp with one having a rather rounded point. They are soiled on the inside, show normal pitting and surface oxidation, and signs of extensive use as well as some signs of sharpening and repairs. Of course, the pieces have surface scratches and dings and show signs of wear. Just a beautiful set of old tobacco spears. Please see photo for additional condition information.
