Vintage Wrought Iron and Brass Ladle with Rat Tail Handle Southeastern Pennsylvania

Description: A beautiful vintage nice size ladle. The ladle has a handle made of flattened iron while the bowl is made of brass. The bowl is attached to the handle with what we believe are iron rivets. The handle, which is obviously hammered, is painted with black coloring and ends with a rat tail pattern. The handle starts with a butterfly juncture where it meets the bowl. The butterfly shape is riveted to the bowl with two iron rivets. The handle is flat and wide in a ribbon fashion and terminates in a circular form before bending into the rat tail. The bowl has a flat circular bottom rising with flared and straight sides ending in a rolled rim. The piece has the hooked hanger referred to as "Rat Tail" hanger. This is a great looking ladle which would make a great addition to any collection. Please carefully review the photos as they are part and parcel of our description.

Date: Early to mid-20th century.

Origin: Southeastern Pennsylvania.

Size: The ladle measures ~ 16 5/8" long, while the bowl is ~4 7/8" in diameter at the top, ~3 1/4" in diameter at the bottom and is ~2 1/4" deep. The piece weighs about 12 ounces.

Marks: Unmarked.

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: This is a nicely done wrought iron and brass ladle, which would be a great addition to any collection.

Condition: The ladle is in great good condition with no cracks, breaks, dings or repairs. The piece has some ware, some losses to the paint on the handle and a few light rust spots. It is clean in general but the brass bowl could use a good polishing job to bring its full beauty out. The piece is solid and beautiful and really looks good.
