  • $ 1,777.00

Description: Gold dinar from Al-Muqtadir, who ruled the Muslim empire in the period 295-320 AH (908-932 AD). Al-Muqtadir is the nineteenth caliph of the Abbasid dynasty. His full name being Al-Muqtadir Billah Abu al Fadl Ja'far. This is a dinar, weighs about 4.3 grams and is about 24 mm in diameter.  The coin shows the date of minting as 306 AH and the mint as Madinat al-Salam or current day Baghdad the current capital of Iraq. The coin lists Al-Muqtadir Billah on the obverse and the name of the heir Abul Abbas on the reverse. Please note the coin looks much better than the photos suggest with will defined and readable legends. This is a quality coin, which would make a nice addition to your collection. Please carefully review photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.

Date: 306AH or 918 AD.

Mint: Madinat al-Salam or current day Baghdad the current capital of Iraq.

Size and weight: This is a dinar, weighs ~4.3 grams and is ~24 mm in diameter.

References: It is Album #245.2 and Bernardi as 242Jh.

Condition: I would grade the coin as a good very fine or better. The coin shows some luster with nice well defined and very readable legend. There is some wear to the high points throughout and some strike weakness along the edge on the reverse. The coin also has a small scrape in the bottom of the obverse. This is a very nice coin worthy of a spot in your collection. It is much better than the photos suggest. Please see photo for additional condition information.
