Antique Figural Humidor or Tobacco Jar Man with Mustache and Beard In Head Dress

  • $ 164.99

Description:  Antique figural humidor in the form a man wearing a mustache, a beard and a head dress. It could be a desert nomad or a man from Indian. This porcelain jar is glazed in very vivid colors and shows great detail. The man is smiling; his mouth is open showing his teeth and red lips.  His cloth head dress is brown in color and is set on his head in the form of a pyramid and is draped on the side and back of his head. The entire piece is made of pottery and the top of the head dress is the lid. This is a rather nice Art Pottery Figural Humidor. Please review photos as they are part and parcel of our description.

Date: Early to mid 1900's.

Origin: Purchased in an estate sale in Southeastern Pennsylvania as part of a large collection of figural Humidors or Tobacco Jars.

Size: ~4" by 3" at the base and ~5" High.

Maker: Unknown.

Marks: Unmarked.

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: Truly a nice figural piece.

Condition: Humidor is in great condition with no cracks, repairs, crazing or hairlines. It does have two small chips at the edge of the base, a small chip on the edge of the lid, and has two spots at the corner of the lid on the underside where the glaze is worn off in a manner consistent with closing the lid and the corner hitting the rim each time. In addition, the under side of the lid has some soiling. These are all shown in the photos.  Be that as it may the piece is lovely and very nice.

In Closing: This is a very nice figural humidor which would make a worthy addition to your collection.
