Beautiful 1523-1539 Silver Coin Venice Italy One Lira Andrea Gritti ND NGC XF 40

Description: Beautiful large silver coin showing no date from Venice Italy. This is a one Lira or Mocenigo from the times of Andrea Gritti in the period of 1523-1539. The coin shows Doge kneeling, with DVX above him, before St. Mark, who holds staff in right hand with the legend "ANDREAS·GRITI. S·M·VENET" on the obverse. The reverse shows full length Christ the Redeemer standing facing forward on a pedestal. The reverse has the legend ".TIBI.SOLI.GLORIA." surrounding the image of Christ along the edge. The coin is undated but was issued during the period 1523-1539. The coin is much better than the photos suggest. It is beautiful with great eye appeal. It weighs ~6.5 gm of 0.948 silver and measures ~33 mm. The coin is graded XF 40 by NGC and comes in a plastic slab so labeled. Size and weight: This is a one Lira or Mocenigo that is ~33 mm in diameter and weighs ~6.5 grams of 0.948 silver.

Condition: The coin is graded extremely fine (XF 40) by NGC and comes in a plastic slab so labeled. It is nicely toned and has wear commensurate with its age and circulated state. The coin has a few scratches and bag marks on both sides which can be seen in the photos. The coin is much better than the photos suggest. A great rare coin to add to your collection.
