Antique Masonic Commemorative Plate Phoenix Lodge No. 130 Centennial Philadelphia Pennsylvania

  • $ 49.99

Description:   Antique and beautiful gold bordered plate made for Phoenix Lodge No. 130 F. & A.M. The plate is dated 1912. The lodge is located in Philadelphia Pennsylvania.  The plate has a white background color and is fully glazed. The writing as well as the image of the rising Phoenix are in blue transfer and are surrounded by a golden circle. The rim of the plate is also golden and has a wide gold band with a thin one next to it. This is a shallow plate and has a foot in the back. The back also has a Manufacturer's Hallmark in green and then writing in blue. The green hallmark is for Porcelain Factory Tirschenreuth in Bavaria Germany, the maker of the plate, while the blue writing indicate that the plate was decorated by "Thomas Maddock's Sons Co., Trenton, NJ" . Please carefully view photos as they are part and parcel of our description.

Date:  1912.

Origin:  Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, but the piece was made in Bavaria Germany and decorated in Trenton New Jersey, USA.

Size:  The plate measures 8 3/4" in diameter and is ~1" high. The plate weighs 12 1/2 ounces.

Maker:  Tirschenreuth, Porcelain Factory of Bavaria Germany and Thomas Maddock's Sons Co. (Thomas Maddock & Sons purchased the Lamberton Works from the Trenton China Co. in 1892 and began producing fine gauge china as well as commercial ware there in 1893. In 1923.)

Marks:  Has the Tirschenreuth Porcelain Factory mark in green transfer consisting of a shield toped by a crown and having the letters P T on the side while circled with a wreath or foliage. This Tirschenreuth, Bavaria, Germany mark circled with foliage dates to somewhere between the years of c.1903-1927 which is consistent with the date on the plate. It also has the Thomas Maddock's Sons Co., Trenton, NJ mark in blue transfer cursive lettering on the base.

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece:  A beautiful Masonic antique in great shape after 100 years.

Condition:  The piece is in great condition with no cracks, repairs, hairlines, or crazing to the glaze. The piece has some losses to the gold decoration, which can be seen in the photos, and minimal losses, if any, to the blue transfer decoration.  It does have a couple of very small and superficial chips to the foot on the back, which maybe original to the plate but we are uncertain and so mention it. These however, do not distract from the plates beauty and quality. Just a great and wonderful museum piece. The piece has a nice ring to it when tapped on the side (high Quality German Porcelain). Please view photos for additional condition information.

In Closing:  Please see photos to appreciate the beauty and condition of this piece. This is truly a nice antique,  which would make a great addition to your opera glasses collection.
