The entire piece is of nail construction. The backboard is made of three parts attached together with nails and shows some separation of the parts but is still in good condition. The entire piece has a varnish finished and is brown in color with a great look and very nice appearance. Please carefully review the photos as they are part and parcel of our description.
Date: circa 1920.
Origin: Purchased at an estate auction in Southeastern Pennsylvania, USA.
Size: Box measures ~8" by ~2 3/8" by ~2 1/2" with the back being ~9 1/8" at its highest point. The piece weighs ~11 ounces.
Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: This a very nice and uncommon piece of Americana worthy of a spot in your collection.
Condition: The piece is in good condition given its age (it is about 1000 years old) and utilitarian function. It has some losses to the surface finish with a few chips and dings. The backboard, which is made of three parts joined together with nails shows some separation and the top nails holding the side pieces caused cracking to the edges as can be seen in the 8th photo. There are also some minor chips to the edge of the design which can be seen in the 9th and 10th photos. The piece appears to be all original and looks great. Please view photos for additional condition information.
