Pair Candlestick Holder Rectangular Base Williamsburg Reproduction Stieff Pewter

  • $ 49.99

Description: A pair of beautiful cast solid pewter candlestick holders with a great shaped classic design. This candlestick holders are reproductions of 18th century candle sticks used in America. They are made by Stieff Pewter for Williamsburg Reproductions and they are so marked. The holders, which are rather substantial, have an unusual rectangular base which rises in a curved fashion to a central shaped plain column. The column, which is reminiscent of a fluted flower, rises to the top which has a central deep cup (~3" deep) of ~3/4" diameter where the candle would fit. The top of the cup has a upwards flared and slightly rounded wide ledge that is also plain with a plain edge. These are good looking pieces with a classic design and a beautiful warm gray age patina. Please carefully view photos as they are part and parcel of our description.

Date: Uncertain but most likely mid to late 1900s.

Origin: Purchased at an estate auction in Lancaster County Pennsylvania.

Size: Both pieces measure ~5 1/2" high, with the base measuring ~4 by ~2 3/4". The cup where the candles would fit is ~3" deep and has a ~3/4" internal diameter. Both pieces together weigh about one pound and 12 ounces.

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: Beautiful vintage candlestick holders having a nice classic design and a beautiful look. A nice quality pewter pair worthy of a spot in any collection.

Condition: The candlestick holders are in very good condition given their age and utilitarian function. They have no breaks, repairs, or manufacturing defects. They do have some minor surface scratches, minimum surface dirt, and some waxy residue. The pieces have a nice warm gray age patina.
