Unusual Bottle Stopper or Cork With Bucking Donkey Standing on Wooden Base

Description: A cork or bottle stopper having a carved wood moving donkey on top. The stopper, which has cork material on the bottom followed by a round wooden portion or base painted in red with a moving shaft protruding from it and a top that is a carved wood donkey. The donkey makes a bucking motion when the shaft is twisted around. Twisting the shaft makes the donkey raise his hind legs and lower its head at the same time. Twisting the shaft in the opposite direction makes the donkey return to its original stance. A very well-done carving of the donkey making this cork or bottle stopper a very collectible piece and a great conversational item. Origin: Was purchased at an estate auction in Southeastern Pennsylvania. 

Size: The piece is ~4 3/4with the red base being ~1 1/2" in diameter and the donkey being ~4 3/4" long from the tip of the ears when down to the tip of the tail. The piece weighs about one ounce. 

Maker: Unknown. 

Marks: The cork portion of the bottle stopper is marked "DEINHARD." 

Condition: The piece is in very good condition with some soiling in the form of dust. The piece has scratches, some surface dings, and minimum loss of coloring. Other than that, the piece is wonderful and deserves a spot in your collection. Please see photos for additional condition information.
