Unusual Vintage Small Size Brass and Glass Oil Lamp w/ Conical Snuffer on Chain
Description: A beautiful vintage a small size glass and brass oil lamp. The piece has a round glass reservoir where the oil (possibly whale or other) would be stored. The reservoir is equipped with a brass collar on which a lid having a central tall cylindrical burner would screw. The burner has a short threaded through it. The piece is also equipped with a conical snuffer attached to the lid with a short chain. The glass reservoir has a round base with a constriction supporting the round clear glass reservoir. The piece is clean and does not appear to have seen much use. It does appear to be all original and is in very good condition. A small and interesting piece to add to your collection. Date: Unknown, but we feel it could be early to mid 1900s (early to mid 120th century) and could be earlier.
Origin: Purchased at an antiques auction in southeastern Pennsylvania.
Size: Measures ~1 3/4" in diameter at the base, ~3 7/8" high with the snuffer on, and is ~2 1/8" at its widest spot. The piece weighs about 4.5 ounces.
Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: This is a very well made and very unusual oil lamp in good condition deserving a prominent spot in any collection.
Condition: In very good condition with no cracks, no breaks, no losses and no repairs. It is generally clean with the exception of the brass portion, which could use a good cleaning to bring the piece to its original beauty. However, we leave that to the discretion of the new owner.
