Vintage Brass Colored Abraham Lincoln Bookends Philadelphia Manufacturing Co.
Description: A pair of vintage brass colored metal bookends. This set of metal (possibly bronze or brass) bookends is designed in the shape and look of President Abraham Lincoln. The bookends are representative of a great looking facsimile of President Lincoln and are heavy and compact. They have a rectangular base which is covered with a red colored felt and have a paper label with the mark of the Philadelphia Manufacturing Co. Both pieces are very well made showing nice details. A great set of bookends with a nice and very desirable design. They are worthy of a spot in your collection or on your shelves. Date: Uncertain but most likely sometime in mid to late 1900s.
Origin: Purchased in an estate auction in Southeastern Pennsylvania. They were made in Philadelphia, PA.
Size: Measures ~6 1/8" high and the base is ~2 5/8" by ~2 3/16". The pair weighs slightly over 4 pounds and we estimate that once packaged to ship they will weigh about 6 pounds.

Marks: Both pieces have paper labels on the bottom which have the Philadelphia Manufacturing Co. log consisting of a man tilting a pot where molten metal is and the words ""A product of the finest American Craftsmanship Philadelphia Mfg. Co. Philadelphia, PA."
Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: This is a nice pair of bookends with a great patriotic design. Combined they weigh over 4 pounds. Just a beautiful set of bookends, which deserve a spot in your collection or on your shelves.
Condition: The bookends are rather heavy weighing over 4 pounds unpackaged. They are in very good condition with no breaks, repairs or cracks that we could find. They have minor wear to the finish, some scratches, and some minor stains. One of the pieces (to the left in the first two photos) has a ding having white residue on the base. We have not attempted to clean it and we are not certain that it can. Therefore, we are selling the bookends as found at a low price that is a fraction of their true value. Be that as it may, the bookends are still great looking and would make an excellent addition to your collection. Please see photos for additional condition details.
