Water Color Silhouette Man Standing in Tail Coat in Gold Leaf Half Round Frame
Description: A very antique (circa 1850s) framed water color of the black silhouette oof a man standing in profile. The man is wearing a tail coat, a vest, and a high collar shirt. The man has curly hair, a rounded id section, and a pointy nose. The drawing is on dark paper which we believe is dark because of oxidation. It is framed in a gold leaf half round wooden frame and is covered with glass for protection. There is white shadowing around the drawing due to ageing. The piece has brown paper backing to the frame, which is newer. It also has a loop on top to hang from. The image is well done and the frame looks great with it. The frame has scratches, some color losses and some dings. Be that as it may, this is a nice antique piece of artwork worthy of a spot in your collection or would look good as a decorative accent. Origin: Recently acquired at an estate sale in Southeast Pennsylvania.
Size: The piece measure ~11 1/2" by ~7 1/2" and weighs about one pound.

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: This is a nice antique hand painted water color on paper framed in a nice wooden frame, that is in relatively good condition. It would make a worthy addition to your collection.
Condition: The piece is in relatively good condition with no breaks and no repairs. The wooden frame is in good condition with a crack in the gold coloring along the right side of the frame stretching from the bottom to about 2 two third the distance to the top. The frame also has additional scratches, some color losses and some dings. The drawing is on dark paper which we believe is dark because of oxidation. There is white shadowing around the drawing due to again. There is also a white line in the middle section of the man which we are not certain what it is but we show it in the 4th photo. The frame has a brown paper backing, which is obviously new and not of the same age as the piece. The art work itself is in good condition, well done and the frame still looks great despite the issues mentioned above. The backing is intact and the piece is ready to hang. Because of the issues mentioned here we are selling the piece "AS IS" at a fraction of its true value. Be that as it may, this is a nice decorative piece to add to your collection.
