1910 Russia One Hundred Rubles Large Banknote Czarina Catherine II Pick 13b AU+
Description: A nice about uncirculated or much better Banknote or State Credit Note from Russia. This is the 1910 one hundred Rubles. This is a very large size banknote having dark brown design on a light brown and multicolored background on the front and black designs on off-white background on the back. The back shows the image of Czarina Catherine II in an oval frame with and allegorical man having a sword in his right hand to the left. There is also a blank portion at the extreme right of the back where the water mark is. The front only shows the denomination and has a lot of inscriptions in Cyrillic in the center. The front is highly decorative with Cyrillic inscription throughout with double headed eagle symbol/coat of arms of the Russian Imperial Family in the left top corner, next to a blank portion at the left edge of the note. The banknote displays the date and the denomination on the front and only the denomination on the back. It has two signatures including the signature of Shipov, which dates the note from the period 1912-1917. This particular note has the serial number M Pie 197876 displayed twice, in red, on the front. The note has water mark depicting the image of Czarina Catherine II. Please carefully review the scan as it is part and parcel of our description.
Date: 1910.
Printer: Russian Treasury.
Size: The banknote measures ~10 3/16" by ~4 3/4".
Pick Number: P 13b.
Condition: I would grade this banknote as a nice about uncirculated or much better with all the details being very well preserved. The note has no folds, no creases, no graffiti, no pinholes, no tears, and no splits. The corners are fully squared and intact. It retains all of its original crispiness, stiffness, and sheen. The edges of the note are intact and show no signs of roughness. The note has a few minor signs of wrinkling, which is the main reason we grade the note as AU instead of UNC. These are most likely due to handling and not due to circulation. Just a great piece to add to your collection. Please see photo for additional condition information.
