1930 One Pound Banknote National Bank of Egypt Signed Bertram Hornsby P22a VF 20

Description: A nice very fine banknote from Egypt. This is the 23rd April 1930 one pound currency note. The banknote, which was issued by the "National Bank of Egypt" and printed by Bradbury, Wilkinson & Co. Ltd., New Malden Surrey, England, has a blue design on multicolored background on the front. The front also has a brown circle to the right with the image of Tutankhamen. The back of the note is green with a design showing a mosque in the center. The note is signed B. Hornsby on the front. The note has the denomination spelled out in the center of the front and in numerals to the left of the back. This particular note has the serial number 657665 displayed three times on the front and is series J/11. The note has one signature displayed on the front center near the bottom. It is dated 23rd April 1930, is graded Very Finne 20 by PMG, and comes in a plastic holder so labeled. The banknote has a watermark depicting the head of the sphinx. Size: The banknote measures ~6 1/4" by ~3 3/8".  

Pick Number: P 22a and is listed in the Banknote Book as B121a.  

Condition: The note is graded Very Fine 120 by PMG and comes in a plastic holder so labeled. PMG has the notation "Rust" on the back of the holder, indicating that the note has some rust spots, which can be seen in the back along the vertical central fold. The note has no graffiti, but has two small holes, one in the center resulting from excessive folding and unfolding of the note. The note shows roughness and some minor losses along the edges. Its corners are intact but show rounding. The note has no tears and no splits, and looks good. This note is rare in any grade and as such his represents a great find.
