1931 France 5 Francs Banknote Pick Number 72d Beautiful Very Fine or Better

  • $ 59.99

Description: A beautiful very fine or much better banknote from France. This is the 1931 five francs or Cinq Francs. The banknote has a light lilac colored background with the head of a woman wearing a helmet in the top left corner on the front and has the image of a dock worker with a sailing ship on the right of the back. This particular note has the serial number 1145295612 and is series V.45812 and also sports the number 612. It is signed by L. Platet and P. Strohl and is dated 17-9-1931. The banknote has a water mark depicting the head of a woman in the white circle at the top right of the front. Just a great find of a rare banknote, which is difficult to find in any condition. Please carefully review the scan presented as it is part and parcel of our description.

Date: ED.17=9=1931.ED.

Printer: Bank of France.

Size: The banknote measures ~4 15/16" by ~3 3/16".

Pick Number: P 72d.

Condition: I would grade this banknote as a good very fine or much better with all the being very well preserved. The note has two heavily soiled vertical folds, on in the center and the other near left edge of the back. The note has additional small folds at the corners. The note appears to have been flattened and is lightly soiled on the front but has no major objectionable stains. The note has a couple of short splits at the ends of the vertical folds. The note has no graffiti but has two small pinholes, which appear to be from a staple. The bottom right corner of the back has a heavy crease, but is still intact. The note still retains quite a bit of its original crispiness. Please carefully review the scan presented for additional condition information.
