Description:  A beautiful very good to fine banknote from the Commonwealth of Australia. This is the undated 1938 one pound currency note. This large size banknote is dark green on a multi colored background. It depicts the image of a young King George VI to the right of the front. The back has the same color scheme as the front with the framed image of sheep and sheepherders tending to a flock of sheep in the center. The front also has the denomination written in red in the center. It has the signatures of H. J. Sheehan and S. G. McFarlane on the bottom of the front in green coloring. This particular note has the serial number 840968 displayed twice in black on the front but not on the back. It is series P over 65. The banknote has a water mark depicting captain Cook's head. Please carefully review the scan presented as it is part and parcel of our  description.

Date: 1938.

Printer: Unknown.

Size: The banknote measures ~6" by ~3 1/8".

Pick Number: P 26a.

Condition: I would grade this banknote as a very good to fine with all the details being relatively well preserved. The note has several vertical folds and one horizontal  fold. It also has general heavy wrinkling and general soiling with some staining. It has several holes which where the folds meet. The corners are rounded and have appreciable losses. The note has general roughness, splits, and tears all along the edges. There are also losses along the edges which can be seen in the photos. The note has lost all of its of its original crispiness and is limp. Be that as it may, the note is still intact and in good shape. Here is your opportunity to secure a rare and very expensive note for your collection at a reasonable price. The note would make a great addition to your collection of Australian banknotes. Please see photo for additional condition information.
