Description: A a nice and fairly rare very fine small banknote from Egypt. This is the 10 piastres note issued according to law number 50 of 1940 and does not show the date of issue but was issued in the period October 9, 1944 through February 15 1946 based on the signature of Makrem Ebeid. The front of the note is blue on green underprint with the portrait of King Farouk the First within a crowned oval to the right. The back is green in color on orange underprint. The note is signed by Makrem Ebeid as minister of finance in the period October 1944 through February 1946. The note has a watermark showing crowns and the letter "Feh" for Farouk, the king of Egypt, throughout. This particular note has the serial number 133666 and is series "A/4" which are written in both English and Arabic on the front. The note was printed by the Survey Agency of Egypt. Printer: The Survey Agency of Egypt.

Size: The banknote measures ~4 1/2" by ~2 3/4".

Pick Number: P 168a, Hanafy M4 (10 P.T.), and listed in the Banknote Book as B213a.

Condition: I would grade this banknote as very fine with all the details being still well preserved. The note has vertical folds, horizontal folds, and some general wrinkling. It is soiled and has stains with a small brown circle to the left of the King's portrait that goes through and can be seen on the back. The note has a few creases, roughness along the edges, and some losses especially on the top edge in the middle. The corners are intact but are rounded and have bumps. The note has no graffiti, no pinholes, no tears, and no splits. A nice banknote worthy of a spot in your collection. Please see photo for additional condition information.
