1941 France 20 Francs Banknote Pick Number 92b Nice Very Good or Better

  • $ 64.99

Description:  A beautiful very good or better banknote from France. This is the PS.8=5=1941 twenty francs or Vingt Francs. The banknote has blue design on multicolor underprint. The front depicts a woman and a bearded man behind her, supposedly allegorical representation of science and labor, at  right. The back has a scientist looking through a microscope to the left with a city scene behind him and a trestle bridge at left. This particular note has the serial number 280 and is series G.4050. It is signed by P. Rousseau and R. Favre-Gilly. The banknote has a water mark depicting the head of a woman looking forward in the red framed white area at the top left of center of the front. This is a relatively rare banknote that is seldom seen. Please carefully review the scan provided as it is part and parcel of our  description.

Date: 8=5=1941 (May 8, 1941).

Printer: Bank of France.

Size: The banknote measures ~6 1/4" by ~3 3/4".

Pick Number: P 92b.

Condition: I would grade this banknote as a nice very good or better with all the details preserved. The note has general wrinkling and several vertical creases, a horizontal crease, considerable soiling, some roughness along the edges, many pinholes, small tears (the longest being 1/4" long) along the top and bottom edge, some foxing, and several brown stains that show-up on both sides. The corners are intact with some rounding  and are creased. Be that as it may the note is intact, rare and worthy of a spot in any collection.  Please see photo for additional condition information.
