1942 France 20 Francs Banknote Pick Number 100a Good Very Fine

Description:  A beautiful very fine banknote from France. This is the 5=11=1942 twenty francs or Vingt Francs. The banknote is red with multicolored decorations. The front depicts a Breton fisherman wearing a red jacket and a hat pulling on the rope of a net. The back has two women with a fruit basket and a child to the left and a Breton Calvary Statuary at right. This particular note has the serial number 88712 and is series X.51. It is signed by P. Rousseau and R. Favre-Gilly. The banknote has a water mark depicting the head of a woman in profile wearing a crown in the white circle at the top left of center of the front. Size: The banknote measures ~5 1/8" by ~3 1/4".

Pick Number: P 100a.

Condition: I would grade this banknote as a very fine with all the details being very well preserved. The note has general wrinkling and several vertical creases, a horizontal crease, minor soiling, and some light roughness to the top edge near the center. The note has no stains, no tears, no pinholes, and no splits. The corners are intact with minimum rounding if any, but are creased. Be that as it may the note is beautiful and worthy of a spot in any collection.  Please see photo for additional condition information.
