1942 Lebanon Fifty Piastres Banknote Town Scene with Mosque Pick Number 37 Veryy Fine Or Better Currency Note
Description: A nice very fine or better banknote from Lebanon. This is the 1.8.1942 fifty piastres or a half a lire, representing a one year type issue of this note. The note is issued by the Lebanese Republic. The front of the note, which is green., purple and light blue, is in Arabic and French and shows image of town with a mosque with two minarets top center and lion heads below it. The front also shows the denomination, the date, and two signatures. The back is light green and purple with two mihrabs flanking the denomination in the center. This particular note has the serial number 838,228 and is series B/1. The note has no watermark that we could find. Please carefully review the scans presented as they are part and parcel of our description.

It retains quite a bit of its stiffness and crispiness. The note is lightly soiled and has a few light stains within the margins, including a light blue ink stain in the right margin. It has several vertical folds including a heavy central one with soiling along the fold on the back and a horizontal fold. The note has a small tear (~1/8" long on the top edge about 1 3/4" to the left of the right top corner. Other than that the edges have some minor roughness at the ends of the folds. The corners are mostly intact with some minor rounding and a few bumps and creases. The note has no pinholes and no graffiti. A nice example of this scarce note to add to your collection.
