1942 National Bank of Egypt 50 Pounds Banknote P# 15c Nixon Signature PMG VF20

Description: A very fine banknote from Egypt. This is the Cairo 4th August 1942 fifty pounds banknote issued by the National Bank of Egypt. The front of the banknote is brown, purple, blue, green and orange in color and depicts the image of caravan of camels moving in front of Mamluk tombs. The front also shows the name of the issuing bank, the serial number and one signature. The back has a guilloche pattern with the name of the issuing bank in Arabic and the denomination. The note has no watermark that we could find. The front of the note indicates that the note was issued according to the decree dated 25th June 1898. This particular note has the serial number 093273 and is from the series N/5, which is displayed three times in black lettering on the front and not on the back. It is signed by Norman Nixon the governor of the National Bank of Egypt at the time. This note represents a rather early date with this Nixon's signature (the first issue of Nixon Signed 50 pounds was 6 July 1940). The note is graded Very Fine 20 by PMG with the following notation "Splits, Annotation, Minor Paper Pull" on the holder. Condition: The banknote is graded Very Fine 20 by PMG. The note comes in a plastic holder so labeled. It also has the notation "Splits, Annotation, Minor Paper Pull" on the back of the holder. The note is soiled, has graffiti, has some splits at the end of some of the folds and shows folds, creases and pulls in the paper. It shows general roughness along the edges but still retains well preserved details. It has rounded corners and bumps at the corners. A rather rare banknote to add to your collection at a reasonable price. Please see scans for additional condition information.
