Description: A nice apparent extremely fine or better 10 Japanese Yens banknote. This is 1945 banknote having Wake no Kiyomaro portrait to the right of the front and issued by the Bank of Japan. The note is all in Japanese characters, except for denomination and block number, with serial number in black and block number in red. The back is brown and depicts Goou (Gooh) Jinja Shinto Shrine in Kyoto in the center. The note is black on green and gray under-print with Wake no Kiyomaro's portrait to the right of center of the front and is brown on the back. The banknote has a watermark depicting a quatrefoil? throughout. The note has two red seals in the bottom center of the front. This particular note has the block number 6 shown in red twice on the front. Please carefully review the scan as it is part and parcel of our description.

Date: 1945.

Printer: Bank of Japan.

Size: Measures ~5 1/2" by ~3 1/4".

Pick Number: Pick 77a and is listed in The Banknote Book as B334a.

Condition: I would grade this banknote as an apparent extremely fine or better with all the details being very well preserved. The note has several light folds and a couple of creases. It does also have some minor light wrinkling along the top edge. The note is clean with no stains, no graffiti, and no pinholes. Its corners are intact with minimum rounding. The top edge has one small and short tear (~1/8") in the margin. This is the reason we grade the note as apparent XF instead of straight XF. The note has no additional tears, no repairs, and no splits. The note retains quite a bit of its original crispiness, stiffness and sheen. A very nice note to add to your collection. Please see photo for additional condition information.
