  • $ 137.77

Description: A nice extremely fine or better banknote from Egypt. This is the Cairo 17th May 1951 Fifty piastres banknote issued by the National Bank of Egypt. The banknote is green in color on multi colored background. It depicts the image of King Chephren in profile within a scalloped oval frame to the left of the front. The back is light blue and shows a crescent and three five point-stars left of center and the denomination to the right. The front shows the serial number, the date and the signature of Ahmed Zaki Saad the governor of the National Bank of Egypt at the time. This particular note has the serial number 200113 and is from the series A/59, which is displayed three times in black lettering on the front and not on the back. The note has a watermark showing a scarab in the bottom of the center. A nice note worthy of a spot in your collection. Please carefully view scan as it is part and parcel of our description.

Date: 17th May 1951.

Printer: Bradbury, Wilkinson and Co. Ltd in England.

Size: The banknote measures ~5 1/2" by ~3 1/16".

Pick Number: P 21e and is listed in the Banknote Book as B120e.

Condition: I would grade this banknote as a nice extremely fine with all the details being very well preserved. The note shows signs of light circulation signs. The note has three vertical folds but no apparent horizontal folds. The note is relatively clean with no stains. The note has no pinholes, no graffiti, no tears, and no splits. The edges are intact with minimum roughness and the corners are nicely squared with minimum rounding. The note retains quite a bit of its original crispiness, stiffness, and sheen. A nice example of this rather scarce note in great condition to add to your collection. Please see scans for additional condition information.
