1952 ND Egypt 10 Piastres Banknote Signed Abdel Gueleel El Emary Pick Number 171

Description: A nice rare very fine banknote from Egypt. This is the no date 10 piastres Egyptian Currency Note issued by the Egyptian State as official Currency Note. This rare note which was issued in 1952 immediately after deposing King Farouk still has the bust of King Farouk as a watermark with black lines overprinted to cover it. The note does not show the date of issue but was issued in 1952. It is signed by Abdel Gueleel El Emary, who was the minister of Finance and Economy during that period. The front of the note is gray blue on brown underprint showing a group of Egyptians carrying the Egyptian flag at the time and marching forward. The group consist of a peasant with pick on his shoulder, and industrial laborer carrying a wrench and two women being led by a soldier carrying a rifle in his hand. The back has the same color scheme as the front with red faded decoration as well as red faded denomination. The note is in Arabic on the front and in English on the back. The note has a water mark showing the head of King Farouk the first and is located within the white oval to the left of the front. This particular note has the serial number 917237 and is series "B/10" which is shown in Arabic in the bottom center of the front and in English in the top left. It is signed by Abdel Gueleel El Emary, minister of economy and finance of Egypt in the period September 1952 through June 1954. The note was printed by the Survey Agency of Egypt. Pick Number: P 171a and is listed in the Banknote Book as B217a.

Condition: The banknote is graded Very Fine 25 by PMG and comes in a plastic holder so labeled. The note has general soiling and is slightly faded especially on the back but still intact and in very fine condition with all of its details being well preserved. It has no observable issues and is in nice original circulated condition. A rare note in any grade and as such this very fine note is worth a premium being intact and still in very fine condition.
