1953 Belgian Congo Ruanda-Urundi Central Bank 20 Francs Banknote P 26, VF 30 EPQ

Description: A nice very fine banknote of Exceptional Paper Quality from Belgian Congo. This is the 15 December 1953 Twenty Francs currency note issued by the Central Bank of the Belgian Congo and Ruanda-Urundi. The banknote is olive green on yellow underprint. The front depicts the image of a young woman looking at a waterfall to the left. The back has the same color scheme as the front and displays the image of young man standing to the right with a spear in hand. There is a building in the center of the back. The front has the denomination, the date, the serial number and two signatures and is written in French. The back displays the denomination and the same two signatures but is written in Flemish. The note has a watermark of an elephant's head facing left, in the bottom right corner, when observing it from the front. This particular note has the serial number F692010, which is displayed twice in black on the front. Please carefully review the scans presented as they are part and parcel of our description.

Size: The banknote measures ~5 1/2" by ~3 1/2".

Pick Number: P 26 and is listed in The Banknote Book as B306a.

Condition: The banknote is graded very fine 30 EPQ by PMG and comes in a plastic holder so labeled. The note is soiled, has folds but according to PMG is of Exceptional Paper Quality. We note graffiti in the bottom right corner of the front (the number 35 written in pencil). Other than that, the note looks great and is well preserved. This is a very nice example of this scarce note, which would make a nice addition to your collection. Please view the scans presented for additional condition information.
