1953 Commercial Bank of Scotland Ltd Five Pounds Sterling Banknote P# S333 VF 30

Description: A beautiful very fine banknote issued by The Commercial Bank of Scotland Ltd. This is the 5 pounds sterling note dated 2nd January 1953. The banknote is violet in color on both sides with a yellow tint in portions of the front. It depicts the image of Lord Cockburn in the center on the front flanked by allegorical women representing Agriculture and Navigation with the head of a woman in the bottom left corner. The front also has one signature, the date, a serial number, and the denomination. The back shows the bank headquarter building in Edinburgh with people in Victoria attire promenading in front. The note has a watermark in the top left corner, which depicts the head of a woman. The note has no security thread. This particular note has serial number023146 and it is series 16W. The note is graded by PMG as 30 Very fine EPQ (Except6ional Paper Quality) and comes in a plastic holder so labeled. Pick Number: P 333 and is listed in the Banknote Book as B868e with a 600,000 notes issue. 

Condition: The banknote is graded by PMG as 30 very fine EPQ (Exceptional Paper Quality) and comes in a plastic holder so labeled. It has all of its very well preserved. The note has folds, some wrinkling, light soiling. and some bumps in the corners. The corners are intact and nicely squared with minor rounding. The edges are intact with minimum observable roughness. The note has no pinholes, no graffiti, no stains, and no splits or tears that we could see. A very attractive, which would make a great addition to any collection of Scottish banknotes. Please see scans for additional condition information.
