1966 No Date Currency Ethiopia 50 Dollar Banknote Emperor Haile Selassie P# 28a
Description: A nice about uncirculated or better banknote from Ethiopia. This is the no date 1966, fifty dollar currency note issued by the National Bank of Ethiopia. The front of the banknote is blue on multicolored underprint and shows the bust of Emperor Haile Selassie to the right. There is the image of the spillway of the Koka high dam on the Awash River to the left of the front. The back, which is blue in color, depicts the image of the Ethiopian Arms which is a crowned lion with a flagged cross in its paw. The banknote does not display the date anywhere. It displays the denomination on both the front and back. It has one signature on the front. This particular note has the serial number C074275, which is displayed in black twice on the front. Condition: I would grade this banknote as a nice about uncirculated or better with all the details being extremely well preserved. The note retains all of its original sheen, crispiness, and stiffness. The note has no folds, no creases, no bumps and is clean. The corners are intact and fully squared with no appreciable rounding. The note has no pinholes, no graffiti, no tears, and no splits. Its edges are free of roughness and are intact. The note has several small light stains on the back, left of center, some of which can be seen in the photos. In addition, the paper of the banknote shows a slight waviness around the center but no obvious folds or creases. The waviness appears to be original to the making of the note and does not distract from its quality or beauty. Because of the stains and the waviness we are grading the note as AU instead of the Unc. Be that as it may, the note is in great shape and is a worthy addition to your collection.
