  • $ 97.77

Description: A beautiful extremely fine or much better banknote from Australia. This is the undated 1953-60 one pound currency note. This banknote has a black design over green underprint. It depicts the image of Queen Elizabeth of Great Britain in a circular frame to the right of the front. It also has the Australian arms in the top center of the front. The back is light green with the portraits of Charles Stuart and Hamilton Hume facing each other. The front also has the denomination written in words (One Pound) in the center and as numerals in all four corners. The note has the signatures of Roland Wilson to the right and H.C. Coombes with the title Commonwealth Bank of Australia Governor above left signature on the front in black. This particular note has the serial number 277802 displayed twice in black on the front but not on the back. It is series HD over 82. The banknote has a water mark depicting captain James Cook's head. This is a rather scarce note and would make a great addition to your collection of Australian banknotes. Please carefully review the scan presented as it is part and parcel of our description.

I would grade this banknote as a nice extremely fine or much better with all the details being well preserved. The note has one light vertical crease in the center. The note still retains most, if not all, of its original stiffness. The colors are vivid and bright. The corners are intact with minimum rounding if any. The edges are intact and show no wear. The note is clean with no stains, no pinholes, no graffiti, no tears, and no splits. The tear the light crease, which is hard to see, is the reason we are grading the note as extremely fine and not AU. The note would make a great addition to your collection of Australian banknotes. Please see photo for additional condition information.
