Scarce 1962 Five Dollars Banknote by The Chartered Bank of Hong Kong P68c B364d

  • $ 49.99

Description: A nice very fine banknote from Hong Kong. This is The Chartered Bank of Hong Kong No Date 1962-1970 five dollars currency note. The banknote was issued by the "The Chartered Bank" of Hong Kong and printed by Thomas De La Rue of United Kingdom. The note has a black and green design on multicolored underprint with the image of Hong Kong arms at lower left corner of the front. The front also has the serial number and denomination. The back is green in color and depicts the image of a Chinese Junk and Sampan boat on the river with mountains in the background. This particular note has the serial number S/F 3483596 displayed in black twice on the front and has two signatures, Miller and Reynolds. The banknote has a watermark located in the bottom right corner and depicts an allegorical helmeted warrior's head. The note also has a solid security thread left of center. Please carefully review the scans presented as they are part and parcel of our description.

Date: Not dated but known to have been issued in 1962-1970 (actually according the Banknote Book it was introduced in 1962).

Printer: Thomas De La Rue, England.

Size: The banknote measures ~5 1/2" by ~3 1/16". Pick Number: P 68c and is listed in the Banknote Book as B364d.

Condition: For international buyers, please note that the new US postal rates for overseas shipping are very high and we are unable to change them. Additional charges will be incurred depending on the value of the item. Please check the cost of shipping before bidding. I would grade this banknote as a very fine with all the details being well preserved. The note shows signs of circulation with three vertical folds and one horizontal. It is soiled and shows staining along the folds on the back of the note. The edges show minor roughness but no tears or splits. The corners are squared with minor rounding and some bumps. The note has no graffiti, no pinholes, and no objectionable large stains. This is a nice example of this scarce note and worthy of a spot in your collection. Please see the scans for additional condition information.
