Scarce Currency 1942 France 20 Francs Banknote P100a Breton Fisherman & Women XF

Description: A beautiful good extremely fine or better banknote from France. This is the C.12=2=1942.C twenty francs or Vingt Francs. The banknote is red with multicolored decorations. The front depicts a Breton fisherman wearing a red jacket and a hat pulling on the rope of a net. The back has two women with a fruit basket and a child to the left and a Breton Calvary Statuary at right. This particular note has the serial number 003561893 and is series L.2. It is signed by P. Rousseau and R. Favre-Gilly. The banknote has a water mark depicting the head of a woman in profile wearing a crown in the white circle at the top left of center of the front. Date: 12=2=1942 (February 12, 1942) representing the first date this note was issued.

Size: The banknote measures ~5 1/8" by ~3 1/4".

Condition: I would grade this banknote as a good extremely fine or better with all the details being very well preserved. The note has a light horizontal fold and a few minor bumps along the top edge, top corners, and additional minor bump here and there. It is clean and retains quite a bit of its original stiffness and crispiness. The note has no pinholes, no graffiti, no tears and no splits. Its edges are intact with no roughness and its corners are intact, squared with minimum rounding. but have some minor bumps. The note also has a small spot (orange in color) along the left edge. Be that as it may, the note is beautiful and worthy of a spot in your collection of French notes. Please see scans for additional condition information.
