The Bahamas Government One Pound Banknote Repeater Serial Number 500500 Pick Number 15a Good Very Fine or Better Currency Note

  • $ 177.77

Description: A beautiful very fine or better banknote from the Bahamas. This is the One Pound No Date (1953) banknote issued by the Bahamas Government and introduced into circulation in 1953. It has black designs on multi-colored underprint with green and pink tones on the front. The front of the note shows a sail ship in a circular frame to the left and the image of a young Queen Elizabeth II to the right. The back is black in color and depicts Bahamas arms to the left and denomination to the right. The front displays the denomination, and three signatures with the central signature being that of Latreille and the one to the far right being that of Burnside making it Pick Number 15a. This particular note has the repeater serial number 500500, which we like very much, with the prefix A/1 both printed in black twice on the front but not on the back. The note has a security thread left of center. This is a relatively rare note in such a nice grade and quality. Just a great note to add to your collection. Please carefully review the scans presented as they are part and parcel of our description.

Date: The note is undated but referred to as 1953 issue. The note is confirmed by Linzmayer as being introduced in 1953.

Printer: Thomas De La Rue & Company Ltd. London England.

Size: The banknote measures ~6" by ~3 1/4".

Pick Number: P 15a and is listed in the Banknote Book as B114a.

Condition: For international buyers, please note that the new US postal rates for overseas shipping for first class shipments are generally very high and we are unable to change them. Additional charges will be incurred depending on the value of the item. So please check the shipping cost to your location before bidding. I would grade this note as good very fine or better with all its details being well preserved. The note has several vertical folds, a central horizontal fold, general wrinkling, some light soiling, some stains, creases, and bumps throughout. The note has no pinholes, no objectionable large stains, no tears, and no splits. The edges are intact with general roughness. The corners are intact with some rounding. The note has graffiti in the center of the front in the form of the number 3. Be that as it may, this is a great note to add to your collection. Please see photo for additional condition information.
