Antique Heavy Brass Still Penny Bank Golden Turkey Standing with Fanned Tail
Date: Unknown but we feel it is probably from the late 1800s (19th century) or early 1900s (20th century).
Origin: Purchased at an estate auction in Southeastern Pennsylvania.
Size: The bank measures ~3 1/4" at its longest (from tail to chest), ~3 1/2" at its highest point (to the top of the tail), and is ~2 5/8" at its widest (across the fanned tail). The bank weighs over one pound and 6 ounces.
Marks: We were not able to open the bank, it seems the screw is stuck) and as such we were not able to determine if it is marked on the inside. The piece has no markings on the outside.
Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: This is a nice still penny bank which would make a nice addition to your collection.
Condition: This cast brass or bronze bank is in good condition. It has no breaks and no repairs. The bank appears to be all original. However, we are not certain about the screw since we were not able to unscrew it to open the bank and decided not to force the screw in fear of damaging the piece. The bank shows some soiling, scratches to the surface, and general wear with some pitting throughout, which can be seen in the photos. Be that as it may, this is a great looking bank worthy of a spot in your collection. Please view photos to appreciate beauty of this bank and for additional condition information.
