Antique Small Cast Iron Still Penny Bank Domed Bank Building With Golden Roof

Description: A beautiful cast iron small size still penny bank. The bank is in the shape of a building with windows all around and a domed roof. The building is rectangular in shape and has a gold colored domed roof that is decorated with the word "BANK" on the front and back. The front of the building has a doorway with an arched top. This bank is known a Domed Bank and is listed as number 1180 in Andy and Susan Moore's book "The Penny Bank Book: Collecting Still Banks" published by Sciffer Publishing Ltd of Exton PA in 1984. The bank is silver in colored but has a gold colored dome with a ball on top. It is made of two halves held together with one screw. The bank has the coin slot below the roof on the front. The casting is well done and shows details of the building and the roof. This bank was purchased as part of a large collection of cast iron penny banks many of them shaped as buildings, which we have been listing over the past weeks and months. Date: The bank was made sometime in the period 1899-1934.

Origin: Purchased in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, USA.

Size: The base measures approximately ~2 1/16" by ~1 5/8" at the base and is ~3" high. The bank weighs a little over 7 ounces.

Maker: A.C. Williams.

Marks: Unmarked as to the maker.

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: Very nice little old bank in good condition. Would make an nice addition to your still penny bank collection.

Condition: Bank is in good condition with no repairs or breaks. It has losses to its original paint throughout with signs of oxidation or rust to the surface, but still retain quite a bit of its original paint. The bank's surface has a few minor scratches and some spots where the paint is lost especially on the edges of the roof. All these issues can be seen in the photos. However, these do not distract from the bank's quality or beauty. Please see photos for additional condition information.
