Vintage Iron & Tin Polychrome Painted Penny Bank Baby in Cradle with Bird
Description: This is a very unusual, rather scarce, vintage penny bank. The bank which is made of iron and tin depicts a baby sleeping in a cradle under a blanket. The cradle has curved bottoms so it will rock. The piece is polychrome painted with the baby having brown hair and his face in flesh tone color. He is under a baby blue blanket and the cradle is yellow in color. There is a bird colored in blue perched on the top edge of the cradle. The bedding is in off-white color. The bank is held together with a screw and has the coin slot on the end board on the side of the cradle where the baby's head is. This is a very unusual penny or coin bank, which is in very good condition with some paint loss and some rust spots especially on the bottom of the cradle. The bank has no breaks or repairs and appears to be all original. It was most likely made in the 1940s or 1950s. It is very well preserved and shows the details of the hair, facial features, the blanket, and the decorations on the top and bottom boards of the cradle. This is a very nice and rather difficult to come by piece worthy of a spot in your collection. Please carefully review photos as they are part and parcel of our description.
