Antique Cast Iron Doorstop Brown Colored Owl Standing on Brown-Green Perch

  • $ 97.77

Description: A very nice antique cast iron doorstop. The doorstop is cast in the form of an owl standing on a green and brown colored rock with a green colored base having a scalloped edge. The owl has its head turned to face you while its body is facing left. It is colored in various shades of brown and gray with black highlights. Its eyes are delineated with a light blue coloring with a black center surround with yellow coloring. The doorstop has colors include brown, gray, yellow, light blue, green, and black. The piece retains most of its original paint with some minor losses here and there such as on tip of the beak and above the eye. There are additional minor paint losses throughout. The back of the doorstop has black coloring and is unmarked. The bottom of the base is covered with green felt. The end of the bird's tail appears to be broken off. However, this is hardly noticeable. A nice-looking piece worthy of a spot in your collection. Please carefully review the photos as they are part and parcel of the description.

Size: Measures ~6" in height with the base measuring ~4 1/4" by ~2 1/8". The piece weighs slightly over 1 pounds and 14 ounces.

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: This is a nice old doorstop in decent condition retaining most of its original paint. A beautiful piece which would display very well in your collection of doorstops.

Condition: This doorstop is in decent condition with a break at the tip of the bird's wing by the tail, which is obvious in the first photo but does not distract from the piece's beauty. The piece has no repairs. It retains most of its original paint with some minor losses here and there such as on tip of the beak and above the eye. There are additional minor paint losses throughout. The back of the doorstop has black coloring and is unmarked. The bottom of the base is covered with green felt, which is a bot loose and shows some losses. The piece is a bit soiled and would probably benefit for a good cleaning. It does have some minor rust signs to the bottom of the base. Be that as it may, the piece is just great looking and would display very well in your collection. Because of the broken wing tip, we are selling the doorstop "AS IS" at a fraction of its true value. Please see photos for additional condition information.
