Antique Cast Iron Doorstop Colorful Parrot Perched on Green and Yellow Rock

Description: A very nice antique cast iron doorstop. The doorstop is cast in the form of a very colorful parrot perched on what appears to be green and yellow colored rocks. The parrot is standing on the perch with his tail pointing down and its head turned towards the front. The parrot has colors including yellow, blue, red and green. The piece retains most of its original paint with some losses to the front of the beak, the top of the shoulder and in parts of the chest. There are additional minor paint losses throughout. The back of the doorstop has khaki coloring. A great looking piece worthy of a spot in your collection. Please carefully review the photos as they are part and parcel of the description.

Date: Uncertain but most likely late 19th or early 20th century.

Origin: Purchased at an estate auction in Southeastern, Pennsylvania, USA.

Size: Measures ~6 1/4" in height with the base measuring ~2 5/8" by ~2 3/4". The piece weighs slightly over 2 pounds and one ounce.

Maker: Unknown.

Marks: Unmarked.

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: This is a nice old doorstop in excellent condition and retaining most of its original paint. A beautiful piece which would display very well in your collection of doorstops.

Condition: This doorstop is in very good condition with no breaks or repairs. It retains quite a bit of its original paint with some losses (estimated at better than 92%). Most of the paint losses are front of the beak, the top of the shoulder and in parts of the chest as well as additional minor paint losses throughout. The piece is a bit soiled and would probably benefit for a good cleaning. It does have some minor rust signs to the bottom of the base. Be that as it may, the piece is just great looking and would display very well in your collection. Please see photos for additional condition information.
