Antique Cast Iron Doorstop Two Ducks Standing on Grass Marked 291 By Hubley

  • $ 177.77

Description: Antique cast iron doorstop cast in the form of two ducks standing on green grass. One of the ducks is pecking at its chest while the other is eating the grass under them. The doorstop is painted in tan color with orange colored bills or beaks and legs and feet. There is also green colored grass at the bottom. The piece is very well cast as you can see. Look at the details of the feathers in the wings, the bill and eyes in the head, and the webbing in the feet. The grass blades also show great detail and the entire piece is ready to come to life. The piece is all original with retaining quite a bit of its original paint (estimate >85%25). The piece has losses to the paint at the edges which can be seen in the photos. This is a nice size piece and weighs over three and a half pounds. See page 85 in John and Nancy Smith's book "The Doorstop Book" published by Schiffer Books of Atglen PA in 2006 for two similar examples. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of the description.
