Beautiful Vintage John Wright Cast Iron Still Bank Cat Red Bow Original Paint

Description: A beautiful vintage cast iron still penny bank. It is cast in the form of a cat sitting on its hind legs with a red bow around its neck and having a black tail and a black spot on its back and having black ears. The cat is sitting up and looking sideway. It has a flat base and is made of two halves held together with a screw. It has the coin slot on the back of its head. See page 79of Andy and Susan Moore's book "The Penny Bank Book; Collecting Still Banks" Published by Schiffer Books, of Exton, PA in 1984 for a similar example. Date: Mid 1900's or later.

Origin: USA.

Size: Base measures ~2 3/4" by 1 3/4" and is 4 1/4" high. The piece weighs about one pound.

Maker: Known to have been made by John Wright.

Marks: Unmarked. We have opened the bank (see last two photos) and did not see any marks.

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: This is a nice example of this very desirable bank. It would display very well and make a nice addition to your collection. Condition: The bank is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. It maintains most of its original paint with minimum loss mostly on the face and along the edges as well as the top of the ears. Be that as it may the piece is beautiful and would display very well.
