Vintage Bronzed Cast Iron Bookends Bedouin Man Leading Camel Pyramids in Background
Description: A pair of vintage bronzed cast iron bookends. The bookends depict a raised image of a man in Bedouin garb leading a one humped camel or dromedary. The design also shows pyramids and a palm tree in the background. The pair are substantial, weighing over 5 1/2 pounds. The bookends are dark with brassy colored highlights at the high points as well as the edges. The back is textured while the base is covered with green felt. Just a pair of beautiful bookends. Origin: Purchased in an estate auction in Southeastern Pennsylvania.
Size and Weight: Individually, each piece measures ~ 5 1/2" high and the base is 5 3/4" by 2 1/4". The pair weighs over 5 1/2 pounds.

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: This is a nice pair of bookends with a beautiful and very desirable turn of the 20th century design. Combined they weigh over 5 1/2 pounds. Just a beautiful set of bookends, which deserve a spot in your collection or on your shelves.
Condition: The bookends are in excellent condition with no breaks, repairs or dings that we could find. They do have wear to the finish commensurate with their age and utilitarian function. The felt on the bottom of the base is soiled and also has wear, but still intact and in place. Please see photos for additional .
