Vintage Cast Iron Figural Painted Bottle Opener Seagull Standing on Perch
Description: A vintage painted cast iron bottle opener in the form of a seagull standing on a perch. The piece is colored in white, black, and orange. The seagull is white with orange beak and legs. The bird's eyes are not colored but are outlined in the metal. The perch is black and white. The bottom of the perch with an extension half way up form the bottle opener as can be seen in the last photo. Very nice and unusual piece. Date: Unknown but most likely sometime in the 1900s.
Origin: It was purchased in an estate sale in Southeastern Pennsylvania.
Size: About ~3 1/8" high, and the base is ~2 1/2" by ~1 5/8". The piece weighs ~8 ounces.

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: This is truly a nice and colorful piece that is not very common, which would make a great addition to your collection.
Condition: The bottle opener is in very good condition, with no breaks or repairs. It does have some color losses and chips to the color throughout especially at the edges of the tail, the wings, and on top of the beak among other spots. The piece has some minor signs of rust on the bottom of the base. All of these can be seen in the photos. We estimate the piece retains over 95% of its original paint. A great piece that is well preserved, great looking and very nice. Please see photos for additional condition information.
