1732 Vatican Medal Pope Clemens XII A III Justice Confirmed By Year of Salvation
Description: A beautiful and very rare bronze medal issued by the Vatican in 1732 year 3 of Pope Clement 12 (Clemens XII). This is a papal state bronze medal showing the bust Pope Clement XII (Pope in the period 1730-1740) bust facing right on the obverse with the legend "CLEMENS XII.PONT.MAX." surrounding it along the edge of the obverse. There is the date 1732 below the bust on the obverse. The reverse has the text "IVSTITIA/FIRMATVR/SOLIVM/ANNO SALVTIS/MDCCXXXII/PONT ANNO III", which translates to "JUSTICE STRENGTHENS THE THRONE [IN THE] YEAR OF SALVATION 1732, THIRD YEAR OF HIS PONTIFICATE." with a shield having allegorical animals heads with ribbon decorations in their mouths in exergue. A beautiful early restrike papal medal. The medal is nicely toned in a nice brown color with very nice eye appeal. The edge of the medal is unmarked and is smooth and slightly rounded. A nice-looking rare medal, which would make a worthy addition to any collection. Please carefully review the photos as they are part and parcel of our description.
