The token is to celebrate their second annual fair held on June 15, 1863. The obverse shows the legend "UNION/VOLUNTEER/REFRESHMENT/SALOON/INSTID/MAY 27, 1861" in 6 separate lines. The reverse has the legend "SECOND ANNUAL/FAIR/HELD/JUNE 15, 1863" in four separate lines. The token has a plain edge, weighs ~3.2 gm and measures ~19 mm in diameter. Weight and Size: The token weighs ~3.2 grams and is ~19 millimeters in diameter.

Condition: I would grade the token as extremely fine or better. The token shows minor wear to the high points but is still well preserved. It shows some brilliance in some spots along the edge (at 4 o'clock on obverse and 2 o'clock on the reverse). It also has a few scratches and bag marks most pronounced is the scratch starting at the F in fair and ending at the J in June on the reverse. Be that as it may, this is a nice and well-preserved example of this scarce (R5) merchant token from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to add to your collection.
