Description: A nice crown size 900 silver jugate double portrait medal from Germany. The medal, which has the double portrait of Count Graf Zeppelin and Dr. Hugo Eckener on the obverse with the legend "GRAF ZEPPLIN. DR HUGO ECKENER 1898-1928" surrounding it along the edge, is made of 900 Silver. The reverse shows the image of a Zeppelin airship floating in the sky surrounded by clouds with what looks like an ocean below. The image is surrounded by the legend "LUFTSCHIFF LZ 127 >> GRAF ZEPPLIN" surrounding the image along the edge of the medal. The edge of the medal has the legend "PREUSS.STAATSMUNZE.SILBER 900 FEIN" stamped along it. The airship LZ127 manufactured by the Luftschiff Company managed by Hugo Eckener had just completed the first intercontinental flight in 1928. The airship circumnavigated the earth in 1929.
